Technique Tuesday - Enjoy the Rhythm Fun Fold

The Crafty Collaborations team is comprised of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators from around the world. Each month, we participate in several collaborative projects including blog hops, like this one, to inspire all of us in our passion for crafting. Our goal is to create, share, and inspire every crafter to keep our creative energy flowing.

This month our Technique Tuesdays is all about Fun Folds.  I decided to try a FAUX Step Card since I've been wanting to try this "easier" step card and I need a simpler card for an upcoming event.

I chose to use the Enjoy The Rhythm for a birthday card.

Here are the pieces of cardstock that you need to make this card:

Real Red CS  4 1/4 x 9" and 2 1/2 x 11" (one sheet with some leftover)

Basic Black CS 2 1/4 x 5 1/4"

Basic White cs 2" x 5", and 2 @ 3" x 4" and a snivel about 2 1/2 x 3/4"

Coordinating DSP: 1" x 4" (I used a pc from the new Let's Go Fishing)

Real Red ink pad and Memento Black Ink Pad

Here is what the card looks like (front)

Take the 9” long Real Red cardstock and score it at 1.25”, 2.5” and 5.75”

Take the 11” Real Read cardstock and score it down the middle at 5.5”

The first score will be a mountain fold, the second a valley and the third another mountain fold.

Attach the DSP strip to the front of the first step centering it.

I stamped a couple of the music scores and a piano keyboard  one of the 3” x 4” white pcs and then adhered that piece on the third section of the scored piece, mountain facing the front of the card.

I stamped the “You Rock My World” on the other 3” x 4” pc and mounted that on the inside of the card (fourth section of the scored pc)

Stamp “happy BIRTHDAY” near the top of the 2” x 5” white pc and then stamped a bunch of guitars over the remainder.

Stamp your sentiment “TREBLEMAKER” on the ¾” white pc and give it some interest by punching the ends with the Happy Labels Pick a Punch.  This versatile punch is great for sentiments of any length in multiple widths!  I added this to my finished front using dimensionals to show it off.

Now adhere your guitar pc onto your 2 1/4 “ basic black and then mount that onto the front of the Real Red 2 ½” card stock.

Adhere the real red onto the first step that is already covered with DSP; centering as best you can.  I used my grid paper to get about .88” on either side (4.25” card – 2.5” front leaves 1.75” or 7/8” on each side.

Now add some tape to the inside of the back of this same front pc/11” pc folded at 5.5”, I just closed it down onto the card base and pressed.

Your card will stand up nicely and look like a fancy step card without all of the partial cuts and folds – those can get confusing!
